Japanese Rock Duo B’z Unveil Fifty-Fourth Single Tagged “STARS”

The Japanese rock group B’z has released “Stars” fifty-four times. It was released on July 12, 2023, marking the longest time between singles since Seimei/Still Alive and their first single in six years. In honor of the band’s 35th anniversary, it was released.

The album was released in four different versions: a standard CD edition, a CD+DVD edition, a CD+Blu-ray edition, both of which contain video of the band performing three songs live at Tokyo FM Hall, and a CD+Jenga-style balance game with 54 blocks that are each inscribed with a different band single.

With sales of 117,600 copies, the single debuted at the top of the Oricon Singles Chart for the week ending July 24, 2023.

The band’s 35th anniversary is celebrated in the song “Stars,” in which they compare their accomplishments so far and where they still aspire to be with stars. “The songs we’ve made so far, the fans who have supported us since our debut, and what lies ahead as B’z aims to go somewhere further—all of these irreplaceable existences are’stars.'” For the motion picture Omae no Tsumi o Jihaku Shiro, the song “Dark Rainbow” was composed. The band’s second single “Kimi no Naka de Odoritai” is also included on the single.

In addition, the bonus DVD & Blu-ray of the first limited edition includes studio live footage of three songs recorded in the single performed live. With TOKYO FM HALL filled with excitement from the start of the shooting, “STARS” has become even more spectacular and exciting.

On the stage of the event Treasure Land 2023 held in March this year, B’z talked about the title of the upcoming national tour “B’z LIVE-GYM Pleasure 2023 -STARS-“.
