Due in large part to the fact that several of them were about to close their doors, there has been a resurgence of interest in HBCUs over the past ten years. As a result, many well-known high school athletes chose to enroll at HBCUs rather than more prestigious universities. This has rekindled interest in historically Black colleges and universities, along with the campaign for HBCUs. With the addition of the first female to their football roster, Jackson State University has now achieved history. The fact that the woman is White is ironic.
Jackson State University became well-known thanks to Deion Sanders. Sanders oversaw their football program as its head coach for a while. As a result, Jackson State’s football team rose to become one of the best in the country. In addition, JSU received coverage in the national media for the first time in its history. The majority of people didn’t even think Sanders would make a decent coach. He disproved their claims, nevertheless. Sanders departed for Colorado, which is unfortunate for Jackson State.

The JSU has achieved history once more. The first female football player for an HBCU has joined their football program. Ironically, the woman is White, and this is sparking a lot of controversy on social media.
