宇多田ヒカル – Gold ~また逢う日まで~ “Gold -Mata Au Hi Made-,” the theme song for The Flame of Destiny, the third entry in the Japanese action film series based on a manga of the same name, has been released by Hikaru Utada. It’s her first official single since her eighth album, BAD MODE, was released in January 2022.

Three of the songs on the album were produced by Floating Points, including “Somewhere Near Marseilles,” which is one of The FADER’s favorite songs of the year. The other two songs were produced by A.G. Cook. Cook is also a co-producer on “Gold -Mata Au Hi Made-,” making this their third joint project.

The song begins as a sweet ballad but quickly takes on a pulse that is obviously intended for a dance floor, especially in the lack of drums. In the song’s second half, when the rhythm undergoes a controlled combustion and develops into a glitchy future-funk affair, Cook’s influence is audible. As the song sputters to a finish, Utada, under its strain, shifts from her dreamy vocal range into an almost rapped cadence.

THE RAMPGAE brings a single That includes “Summer Riot -Nettaiya”
